Katie and Caleb

Well I got to spend some quality time with Katie and Caleb today and yesterday. Katie had her Christmas program at her school and then both she and Caleb came to my house to spend the night. Nana, one of their other grandmothers, came and got Katiebug yesterday and took her to her house, and I took Caleb home CAUSE he wanted to go home to his MOMMA!!! Talk about a TOUGH mommas boy that is our Caleb. He is so ALL BOY but a mommas little darlin' too. Today we played "What was that? I heard something?" then we SNUCK all over the house looking for whatever made that sound that we really didn't hear!!! We slayed us some tigers and mean guys all over their house!!

I wish I could video little Caleb's thoughts'

Caleb is so funny we just never know what is going through his mind. But we get a hint when he comes out with funny little anecdotes that he fully believes is real. Like how he was positive that Michael Phelps was going to come to his birthday party. He watched the olympics every night and was GLUED to the tv when Michael swam. The olympics were in August and his birthday was in September. He started swimming at the country club solely from watching Michael swim. He was so funny standing on the side of the pool bent over with his arm back, and DIVING in. I am serious. He would actually dive and then do exactly like Michael did with the little 'body wave' and go a long way before coming up for air. After repeatedly doing this he convinced his mom Amy that he didn't need his life jacket. And sure enough he didn't. He would 'dive' in head first and do the little fishtail thingy and then come up for air then swim to the side. I'll see if I can't find a video of it.

Caleb is just so smart and fun to be around. Once we were driving down the road and a tractortrailer, without the trailer, passed us and Caleb laughed and said "look he don't have a tail." I thought it was so cute that he thought the trailer was a tail!

That leads me to this story, and Amy may make me take it off, but I think it is just too cute to forget. Amy was getting Katie ready for her ballet class and Caleb came into her room. He did a double take and said, "You don't have a tail!" Amy laughed and said, "a tail? You don't have a tail either!" To which Caleb exclaimed, "Yes I do!" and proceded to pull his pants down to show her! Amy cracked up and said, "Caleb that is not a tail, it is a (insert correct name here, I don't won't someone coming to my blog because they googled certain words!) and girls don't have those." We just never know what is going on in that cute little head of his. I think three and four year olds are the most fun age to just listen to, or even carry on a conversation with.

Here is a video of him practicing calling Michael Phelps to invite him to his 3 yr old birthday party... well it won't upload, I'll figure it out and show it later, really cute.

Katie Sarah turned the big 5!

Our sweet little Katie turned five on December 1. She wanted to celebrate by going out to eat at 'crusty crab' and no she is not allowed to watch Spongebob but has evidently seen it enough times she knew who or maybe what 'crusty crab' is. We didn't. But when she and her Mom drove by Red Lobster she said there that place, that's the 'crusty crab' place. So that is where we went to eat to celebrate her turning five years old.
Katie is going to have a birthday pahty in January.

Something new for my blog 'FEEDJIT'

I have seen this on others blogs but did not know how to get it to mine. I did it and hope it stays. Even though right now nobody comes to my blog but me. My kids really need to check it out since it is mostly about them lol.

I found an old friend by just clicking (you really have to be careful about where you click) but I found theAgees blog an I am so happy about that. I need to get her email and really find out what has been going on in their lives, and let them in on ours. Amy and I both have wondered and wondered where they went. So happy.

Mike and I are cleaning and preparing for Thanksgiving tomorrow. I always cook a big turkey, I have since my kids were little. That was/is my holiday tradition more so than anything to do with Christmas. Mike always does the rest of the cooking. He is good at it so I'm not gonna stop him! He cleans as he cooks so there is usually no big mess later.

Amy and her bunch should be getting back from the beach in a short while. She usually comes over early on TG day and helps me decorate my house up for Christmas.

I have made a big start on my gift list so far. I only buy for the grands mainly.

I also have some sewing to do that is a high priority. Baby gifts, Christmas and just regular sewing. I really should get off this pc and go sew.

later....

Jesus Jesus Jesus, there is no sweeter name I know

My oldest grandchild, Jacob 7, asked Jesus to come into his heart. Praise God Whom All Blessings Flow. It was just beautiful the way it all came about. Jacob has been under conviction for a while now. He lives in a very Christ centered home and has been taken to church all his life. His school has an after school program once a week where they study the Bible and talk about Jesus and who He is and why He had to die.

On their way home from school that day Jacob told his mother about that day's class and what they talked about. He said the leaders had asked if anyone felt like they needed to step out of the room and speak with one of them one to one, to raise their hand. He said, but I didn't raise my hand. Then he asked her how would he know when to ask Jesus into his heart. She told him not to worry about it that when Jesus wanted come into his heart he would know and would have no doubt.

Well later that night after they had bed time prayer and he was supposed to be asleep, he came out of his room and up to Amy and said "Mom I just prayed and I asked Jesus into my heart". (insert tears of joy here). She talked with him for awhile and then they prayed together. I hate it that Kevin had to work late that night.

Jacob talked with his children's director at his church the next night, on a Wednesday, he prayed again with Jacob and his parents. Then on Sunday, Nov 2, he went down before his church and publicly professed his faith in Christ. (insert more tears of joy).

Later we went out to eat and I told him "Jacob, do you know what the angels in heaven did when you prayed in your bed and asked Jesus to come into your heart?" He said no and I told him that at that exact moment all the angels in heaven sang ALLELUIA and rejoiced, Luke 15:7.

I am so happy for him and proud of the parents Amy and Kevin are. He is going to baptized into his church on Nov 23, I'll post pictures for sure.

Myles and Gracie all dressed up

Well I haven't posted in a while. Been so busy with my little tastes of heaven. First Kevin was in the hospital for over a week with double pnemonia and I got to keep their kids. Now I loved having them for a whole week, but not under those conditions! He is all better now and back at work and the kids are home. I miss them.
Today I didn't have any grands at house so I just loafed around. Actually enjoyed just the tv's and me! No MiMi I'm thirsty, MiMi I'm hungry, MiMi I'm bored, MiMi it's hot, MiMi I got to poop!!! I miss them though.

Grace and Myles started school today and Jacob and Katie start Monday.

I will be catching up on some sewing now. Amy puts me to shame. I think in two days she made about 6 Lucy's, 6 skorts, embroidered Tees to go with them, even made a couple of outfits by a new pattern called GiGi. It is a button down the front blouse and pants. Very cute. She made all these for Katie and Grace. She is so good.

Handprints

Sometimes you get discouragedBecause I am so small,

And always leave my fingerprintsOn furniture and walls.

But everyday I am growing,-I'll be grown up someday,

And all these tiny handprintsWill simply fade away.

So here's a final handprint,

Just so you can recall,

Exactly how my fingers looked

When I was very small.

Yesterday we spent almost the whole day getting the kids handprints done. I have handprints and feetprints of Amy's kids since they were a few days old. But I have never gotten Myles and Grace's. So yesterday I went to a pottery show and had me a large platter done with all five kids, and a flowerpot and a mug with only Myles and Grace. They are 6 and 5 but at least I'll have something to smile back on. Can't wait to get them and display them.

I was very tired when I got home, drove to B'ham to Gadsden and back home, about three hours of driving and I don't like to drive. Makes me very sleepy. I have a bad reputation for driving for some reason. No wrecks, no tickets, just falling asleep! Go figure.

Well half the day has gone already and I need to go sew something. Maybe something wonderful will happen that I can post about later today.

Children are a blessing from God, ALL CHILDREN!

the much loved Chocolate Chip Brownie

Well I have not only had the wonderful joy of entertaining these three kiddoes all weekend but also the little Chocolate Chip Brownie, as they have so aptly named him. Jacob says he will be called Chipper though. They sure do love him. He is the cutest thing, especially when he runs after one of them. At one time he had Caleb by the leg of his pants and wouldn't let go until Katie went over a took him off. So funny.

I am exhausted to say the least so I am going to take the hottest shower I can and go to bed. I have to go to the kiddoes house tomorrow as Amy has to work the book fair at Jacob's school.

Jason and a friend came over for lunch. She brought her nine month old baby boy. So cute. Jason didn't have his little ones this weekend so we didn't get to see them.

A good day, except for no Myles or Grace.

Leaping Lizards Bat Man

Went to Amy's today and to a pet shop to see how Caleb and Katie would handle a small puppy. Caleb had to kiss every one of them. So cute. Course I washed his mouth off when we got back to the car.

There also was a lizard there. Not the little kind but the kind that grows to four feet! This particular one was the size of a football, not counting his neck/head and tail! Caleb was facinated with it and would stoop on the floor with his chin in his hands and watch it. Now a few months ago Caleb had several nightmares in one night and after the fourth one we got out of him that snakes were getting him, so sad it was. Well smart me decided to pick him up and let him look over into the cage the lizard was in right at the exact moment the lizard decided to stand on its hind legs and try to come through the screen on top of the cage, and at the same time stick its snake like tongue out! Needless to say Caleb went bonkers. I hope he does not have nightmares about this. Mimi can be so stupid sometimes. Thank goodness when we left I asked him what was his favorite thing in the pet store and he said the 'wizard'. I sure hope it was not because it scared him the most! There was also a snake there but it was in something like a hollowed out log and you could barely see him (it was a brightly lit cage and he was a bright readdish color) no scary at all.

They have decided to get a six week old chocalate cocker spaniel. All three kids are spending the night with me Saturday night, so I guess I'll have a puppy here also. Can't wait.
Which one would you choose?

Kindergartener's are so funny

Jacob's dad Kevin, ate lunch with him at school last Friday. While listening to the boys and girls talk he carefully kept a straight face.

Seems, Jacob's friend, Barnes, said he did 50 push ups every morning. Not to be outdone, Jacob said “That’s nothing. When I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t go back to sleep, I do 100 push-ups."

Barnes being clearly impressed said “Really.” Jacob kinda did his head back and looked down his nose at Barnes and said “Huh huh,” while nodding his head and blinking real slow. Kevin had to bite his tongue not to laugh out loud.

I worked with four and five year olds for two years a long time ago. I loved everyday of it. Now that my grandkids are at that age I love my life to pieces. I love to just sit a talk to them or especially listen to them talk with each other. So much fun. You NEVER know what is going to come out of their mouths.

Today's my mother's birthday

Daddy and Mother 1939

Today would have been my mothers 86th birthday. She died five years ago last Novemeber at 80 years old. She had a massive stroke while on the phone with her Sunday School teacher. It seems just like yesterday that I got a phone call from my brother telling me to come to the hospital and it did not look good. She never regain conciousness so no one got to say goodbye.

My mother was a special lady. And lady is what she was. She was one of 10 children that grew up during the depression years. Well she didn't 'grow up' during the depression, she was born in 1922 so she was eight years old in 1929. I remember her singing the 'bugle boys' song and dancing the jitterbug.

My mother was a character as a child, teenager and all the way up to her death. Everybody that knew her liked her. Enjoyed being around her. She was the fun of any gathering. Her favorite actor was Lucille Ball and she was a lot like her. She got into some serious/silly hair raising situations. By the time she was 12 she had fallen off of a railroad trestle and cracked her skull, been bitten by a rattlesnake and swallowed an open safety pin! But she lived to be 80!

The first year after she died I had her five surviving sisters over for dinner. We really had a good time listening to the stories they told us that Mother never did. Like the time she had made a date with two boyfriends for the same night. She had planned to go out with the one that got there first, but they arrived at the same time. My grandmother was supposed to handle the situation, but instead she sat down and had a lively conversation of her own with them. Finally one of them left, it was not the one that became my dad, he waited the other one out. My aunt telling the story was the oldest of all the siblings and said it was very funny at the time. They regaled us with story after story of Mom and we all laughed till we cried.

I miss her. She used to tell me when I did not call her often enough that I would wish I could call her someday and she was so right.

My father died when I was only two years old and mother raised five children by herself. She did a good job if I have to say so myself. All of us are born again christians. All of us have been married to one partner (no divorces) and we have all raised our children to follow Christ. My mother did such a good job that I really did not feel that I was deprived of a parent. She was mother and father and did a great job.

My twin sister called me this morning and we sang happy birthday to her. We know she is in heaven singing with the saints and would not come back if she could!

We have no doubt we will see her again someday.

Such a sweet smile for MiMi

I was feeling sad today, and decided to do something about it. So I went over to see Jacob, Katie and Caleb. Not feeling sad anymore. They were so surprised to see me. I picked Jacob up at school. I also took them a chocolate cream filled donut. Nothing like a little bribery is there?

Just look at that face! How can I feel anything but good?

It rained all day today. I love rain.

I love you Caleb so so much.

Finally taking the plunge

Well I finally decided to take the plunge and start me a blog! I read others blogs all the time and have really found some good ones; and have wanted to start one for the longest time now. So here goes....

My blog will be mostly about my precious grandchildren. Since they are the light of my life. The reason i get up in the mornings! And oh that is so hard for me to type grandchildren versus grandbabies. See my two oldest are now six already. They are Jacob and Myles. Then there is Katie who is four and Grace who is five. Then there is my youngest and maybe my last grandbaby, Caleb and he is two, so I can technically still call him a baby. But don't let him hear that, he thinks he is as old as the rest of them! And buddy he can keep up with them in a heartbeat too! He is tough as they come. Gives the phrase 'All Boy' a new meaning. Blonde blue-eyed angel. Can ya tell he tugs my heartstrings.

Jacob, Katie, and Caleb are brothers and sister. They belong to my daughter Amy. Myles and Grace belong to my son Jason and are both adopted from Kazakstan (sp I can never remember how to spell that).

Amy and her whole family has had the flu, and yes they had their flu shot. I got it from them too. Jacob and Caleb has had it really bad. Katie said she wasn't going to get it, but she did. I think she is so smart that she knew if she waited long enough before she came down with it she would get more attention and not have to share that attention with the boys. She is a very smart girl. She can count all the way to a 'mousand' and that is a lot!

I am retired now for going on three years from civil service. That is I worked for the government for almost 20 years. I love staying home and being able to go see my grands, three of which live within 30 minutes of me :-)
Tonight had the most beautiful lunar eclipse. I wish I had a better camera to take a picture of it with. As it is I have a black picture with a large blurred reddish white dot.
I have at least a mousand pictures of the grands that I want to start seriously scrapbooking. I want to learn how to do it online too. I have joined SIStv and hope to get over there and take some of their classes.
Isaiah 41:10
